Thursday night…midnight
June 27th, 2008Where do I begin? Tent City? Amazing! Worshipping God in front of a boarded up building surrounded by a city in ruins, yet only yards away from the beautifully remodelled downtown streets of New Orleans…hands lifted high…singing “God of This City”. What a night! Many folks were blessed with sandwiches and granola bars, some gave their lives to Christ, many were encouraged, and the spiritual atmosphere will never be the same…Janice’s house…Monday morning, bare studs, despair, you saw the pics…Thursday night, wallboard hung and mudded throughout the entire house…two tornados followed us down the street today…Wow!
tomorrow the team will head to the two houses that we worked at this week to see what we were able to do and take photos. The house where Pastor Craig and his team have been working has a baptismal tank…so…hmmmm…what should we do? Sheri is getting baptized tomorrow! Praise God! I will write pages on all of this stuff, but right now I need some sleep and I’m actually blogging from my phone. All I can say is…Wow! God rocks!
Peace.

Aribica Coffee…
June 23rd, 2008So…here we are…suffering for the Name of Jesus once again…sitting with Pastor Craig at Aribica Coffee house just outside of downtown NOLA…I’ll be updating with another blog page in the next day or two, but for now, I’ll just tell you that GOD IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Our day went very well, I worked in the attic (about 120 degrees) for most of the morning at Janice’s house and we finished the day with a ton of work done, insulation installed, energy sealing completed, and dry wall preperations made. Pastor Craig and some of the other team members canvased a neighborhood in the lower 9th Ward in order to help with The Village’s “Who’s Your Neighbor?” project, which is designed to find out who is living in their homes, who is planning to return to their homes, and what things need to be done in order to help residents return to thier community. We ended the day with chicken, rice, and an amazing time of devotions, worship, prayer, and team ministry. God is doing POWERFUL things in, among, and through this team of people. Keep praying that God will finish what He has started. Much love.

Last thoughts on a 48 hour day…
June 21st, 2008Wow! What a trip. We all arrived safely today at 4 PM CT (4 hours behind our estimation) no worse for wear. Traffic jams…torrential rains…breakfast at Crackerbarrel…1100 miles and 18 hours later, we arrived at the mission house. Praise God for His great mercy (and for those hashbrown casserole things at Crackerbarrell). After dinner (spaghetti), we had a short but amazingly powerful time of prayer and worship. Humility, repentance, adoration, and total abandonment to God were the main themes of the evening. Man…I don’t know what more I can say about that. Later, Jamie, Dan Lamer, and I went to the church that we will be fellowshipping and doing music ministry in tomorrow. We met Pastor Tyrone Smith there and went over some details, but what we greatly enjoyed were his thoughts on Katrina, rebuilding, and the volunteer efforts here. Later, he led us to Tent City so that we could scope it out for our Wednesday night outreach of worship and sandwiches. Amazing! This will prove to be a great opportunity to minister the love of Christ to many people. Tomorrow, after church, we will be touring the home that we will be working on this week as well as attending a BBQ (hopefully I can get some rib secrets).
Two things to ponder and pray over…we will be playing Tears of The Saints (by Leeland) tomorrow and Wednesday. It strikes me as prophetically poiniant here…also…the Scripture, “if My people who are called by My name would humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, I would come and heal there land.” this is a gaping open wound on this country and these people are desperately in need of healing.
Much love to you all.

Preparing for the Big Easy!
June 17th, 200816 Men and Women from ENC and North Kent Community Church are preparing to embark on the journey of a life time. Wow! The time is almost here. For us at ENC, the trip will be revolutionary; 5 of our 7 missionaries are first timers. Please pray for us as preparations are being made and the last minute details are coming into place. We’ll be leaving on Friday June 20th for New Orleans and returning on June 28th. While there, we will be participating in home restoration in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. We will also be leading praise and worship at Woodward Ave Full Gospel Church and at a place called Tent Village where we will have opportunity to minister to some residentially challenged individuals by bringing a meal and some encouragement through music. Check back. I’ll post as often as circumstances and time allow. Blessings.
